Buick is a premium brand of General Motors (GM). Buick models are sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Taiwan and Israel with China being its largest market. Buick is currently the oldest American still-active automotive make and among the oldest automobile brand in the world. It originated as the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company in 1899, an independent internal combustion engine and motor-car manufacturer, and was later incorporated as the Buick Motor Company on May 19, 1903 by Scottish born David Dunbar Buick in Detroit, Michigan. The first Buick made for sale, the 1904 ModelB, was built in Flint, Michigan.
The all-new 2012 Buick Verano (Spanish for ”Summer”) is a compact luxury sedan and the Buick’s third new model in the past two years and first in the compact luxury segment. Based on the Chevrolet Cruze, the 2012 Verano is longer (by 2.9 inches), slightly taller (0.3”) and bit wider (0.8”) than Cruze. The front-drive 2012 Verano sedan comes in Standard (starting at $22,585), Convenience Group (starting at $23,785) and Lather Group (starting at $ 25,965) trims. The 2012 Buick Verano competes with Acura TSX, Audi A3, Infiniti G sedan and Lexus IS250.

2012 Verano carries the modern Buick design cues introduced on the Enclave and interpreted for the LaCrosse and Regal. They include a bold, detailed black chrome waterfall grille, prominent blue translucent projector beam headlamps, portholes, chrome accents premium wheels and tailored body-to-wheel relationship. An arching roofline connects a steeply raked windshield and fast-stoping rear pillars to give the car a sporty profile that’s complemented by large 17-inch standard multi-spoke forged alloy sterling silver-finish wheels. A palette of rich colors enhances the premium look, including Clared Red Tintcoat and White Diamond. Other exterior color choices include Black, Olympic White, Switchblade Silver Metallic, Cyber Gray Metallic and Mocha Bronze Metallic.

Complementing Verano’s precisely crafted, premium-accented exterior is an interior marked by exceptional seat comfort and support as well as premium soft-touch materials including ambient lighting inspired by the LaCrosse. Metallic and wood trims and warm ambient lighting make the cabin an inviting environment. The instrument panel blends with an integrated center stack that hauses the infotainment display, climate controls and radio controls.

The new 2012 Buick Verano is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder Ecotec engine with dual-overhead camshafts, variable valve timing and E85 capability that produces 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a six-speed automatic with manual shift control. EPA gas mileage for 2012 Buick Verano is 21 mpg city/ 32 mpg highway.

The new 2012 Buick Verano has a lot of standard safety features for the class. An impressive 10 airbags, which include knee airbags, come with all models. Four-wheel anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution and six months of OnStar with automatic crash response come standard.
